Alik Ahmed joins our UK team in Leeds as a Senior Engineering Consultant. Alik is a forensic engineer with extensive experience investigating plant and equipment losses providing opinions related to cause and origin, as well as reinstatement options following large and complex losses involving insurance and equipment.
Alik has investigated catastrophic losses including fire & explosion, machinery breakdown, building collapse, water escape, and other costly failures. In addition to forensic engineering investigations, Alik also provides engineering consulting on developping reinstatement plans for buildings and equipment that have damage following an insured peril. He specialises in a variety of equipment, including water distribution, pumps and motors, electrical distribution systems, laser cutting machinery, x-ray equipment, and energy generation (including both renewable and conventional.)
Alik also prepares expert reports and acts as an expert witness where required. He has presented evidence in different jurisdictions in the UK in arbitration proceedings related to engineering losses that involve building system as well as slip, trip and fall liability claims.
In addition to holding a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc in Building Services Engineering Management, Alik is also a Chartered Engineer, certified by the Chartered Institution of Building Services.
