In recent years, global climate change has had a substantial effect on weather, disrupting what were previously considered normal weather patterns and resulting in millions of dollars’ worth of damage. This past winter extreme and uncharacteristic flooding in a water springs resort overlooking the Dead Sea in Jordan resulted in extensive damage to multiple areas of the resort.
Expert Involvement
CEERISK experts were asked to inspect the property on-site in order to define the extent of damage to the facilities and properties. Our experts took measurements of the affected areas in order to establish the extent of the damage caused by flooding. With this information, we then compared all gathered data to the information obtained about pre-loss conditions, including plans and interviews. Further independent research allowed experts to ascertain additional information about pre-loss conditions that became vital in determining the extent of damage.
Bridging the Gap
With experience working numerous construction cases, our experts were able to identify the construction methods used to construct the damaged property prior to the loss, which helped providing an accurate financial evaluation of the damaged properties.
Part of the damaged structures included protection against erosion caused by flooding and other water activity experienced by the river running through the resort. In multiple locations, we determined that entire structures used to protect the mountain against flooding would need to be replaced where they’d been washed away.
Our experts were also able to advise about replacement to damaged streets and bridges, in addition to entire facilities that were washed away. We have been working very closely to develop appropriate reinstatement options that would benefit the resort.
