Around the world construction projects are being deployed. From renewable energy projects in remote locations, new commercial buildings or residential properties in city centres to large-scale airports and hospitals that cove broad areas of land.. We are available to assist in all engineering matters that may arise, from planning through to completion.
Technical Expert Services
The complexity of any construction project provides ample opportunity for disputes to arise between stakeholders, contractors and all other parties. Often disputes require the expertise of an engineer who can advise on the technical aspects of a dispute.
Different matters often lay at the heart of a dispute. From questions regarding design errors and poor workmanship during installation, to matters raised regarding the expectations of a competent contractor.Having an engineering expert to explain the complex engineering principals behind different building systems and how these principals interact with each other is critical.
We have also advised on management for construction sites, on behaviour and contributing factors that have led to incidents and the implimentation of Health & Safety practices on construction sites.
When the matter involves a delay, we work closely with partners who are delay experts and quantum experts who have been involved in disputes around the world.
Forensic Investigations
Even when precautions are taken losses will continue to occur. Losses on construction sites occur most commonly during the period right before handover when a building is nearly completed, regarding in expensive losses and significant delays.
CEERISK experts have been instructed to investigate losses a variety of construction sites, including high-rise commercial and residential buildings, large shopping centres, schools and universities, government buildings, infrastructure projects, pedestrian tunnels, and manmade islands.
Although fire and explosion are among the most common and well-known incidents that occur on construction sites, they also suffer losses because of storms , and injuries that occur in the workplace and delays that are the result of machinery breakdown and failure.
We have investigated machinery failure on construction sites as well as manufacturing or construction defects that have led to delays and other problems. Additionally, we have also investigated crane collapse.
We have investigated machinery failures, construction defects and a crane collapse.
Risk Management
Construction projects start with an empty piece of land and finish with a large, complex building. Every day the conditions on the ground change, making the hazards different from one day to the next. As such, construction sites are volatile environments with an array of dynamic hazards that must be controlled by management systems.
For many reasons, fire hazards on construction sites are among the most difficult to manage. With a variety of people (including contractors, sub-contractors and other workers) each carrying out different scopes of work involving different hazards, as well as often a number of different languages being spoken on site, there many factors that must be controlled and monitored.
We work closely with construction management to ensure that the best practices are being deployed for the management of hazards on site.
HSE
Large construction sites have lots of people working in different roles., from contractors to subcontractors and other workers. The differing contractors and sub-contractors will have different policies. Often the degree of experience of workers on sites differs from person-to-person. In many cases, workers speak many different languages, creating difficulties in communication. All of these factors contribute to the challenges in place to enforce good HSE practices.
We have also worked with management teams to implement the best practices of HSE on complex construction sites, addressing the unique challenges and assisting in the implementation of best practices.
